CHANGING LIVES THROUGH EDUCATION, OUTREACH, AND
COMPASSIONATE DENTAL CARE IN RURAL NICARAGUA.

Our mission is to build smiles, health, and local professional capacity in the coastal region of Nicaragua.

NicaRisas aims to:
Establish a Dental Operatory at Roberto Clemente Clinic: This will be staffed 2-3 days per week by licensed dentists from Rivas, providing essential basic dental services (exams, cleanings, extractions).
Provide Preventive Care Programs: Dental hygiene education will be delivered through presentations and communications supported by the Roberto Clemente Health Clinic.
Offer Mentorship and Training: Opportunities for local Nicaraguan dentists to receive mentorship and professional development.
We are providing an outreach program for U.S. dentists to volunteer abroad and share their expertise with local Nicaraguan communities.

Who We Help
The rural communities of Tola, Nicaragua, are home to families who live with simplicity and resilience. The people here are kind, welcoming, and deeply connected to their land and neighbors.
While they are resilient, many face the daily challenges of limited resources. Economic challenges limit access to basic healthcare.
Dental care, in particular, is often unavailable or financially unattainable, leaving many individuals with untreated dental issues that impact overall health and affect their quality of life.

Friends of NicaRisas

The Robert Clemente Health Clinic provides 24/7 free and affordable healthcare, supplies, and innovative wellness programs in the Southwest coastal communities of Nicaragua.
NicaRisas will be housed within the clinic’s main facility, and the Dental awareness workshops will be administered to local communities through existing outreach programs in health education.

CREA’s integrated literacy and learning programs provide critical support for children and youth ages 0 – 24 years. This is reflected through three primary programs: Library Services, Academic Success, and Youth Development.
CREA’s educational programs reach over 2700 children throughout 23 communities in Tola. Our collaboration will enable NicaRisas to expand access to quality dental care and preventive education in rural Nicaragua.

Get Involved
We extend the invitation here: come see the clinic, meet the team, and experience the beauty of Nicaragua’s Pacific coast.
For many visitors, accommodations at nearby Rancho Santana or Hacienda Iguana make it possible to combine meaningful engagement with a comfortable stay. When you see the clinic in action, the patients smiling as they leave, the staff working with unwavering commitment, you will understand why we do this.
We’re not just treating teeth; we’re building health, dignity, and opportunity, one smile at a time.

Meet Dr. Sibera Troy Brannon

In 2014, Dr. Brannon was first introduced to Roberto Clemente Clinic, a remarkable medical facility in Limon, Nicaragua. It is a place where compassionate care meets practical action.
Back then, his role was small, but his appreciation for the clinic’s mission was immediate. Over the years, he’s watched the clinic grow into a hub for healthcare, community outreach, and now, combined with our joint effort, it is a center for sustainable dental care.
Project NicaRisas is helping the clinic establish a permanent dental operatory complete with a new chair, compressor, vacuum system, and the essential equipment to meet Nicaragua’s licensing requirements.
We are also investing in mentorship by guiding emerging Nicaraguan dentists in surgical techniques, prosthetic workflows, and patient-centered care. Dr. Troy Brannon is affiliated with the ADI and has had the privilege of working alongside Dr. Delgado, Dr. Meyling Rojas, and Dr. Walmer Corrales, watching them grow in confidence and skill.
This isn’t just about today’s patients. It’s about building local expertise that will serve the community for decades. NicaRisas is more than a program; it’s a promise. A promise that healthcare, including dental care, will be accessible, respectful, and sustainable.
